ROBBIE LOPEZ ANNOUNCES INDIEGOGO CAMPAIGN FOR STEAMPUNK VAMPIRE ADVENTURE ‘PROTÉGÉ MOI’

We’ve talked here recently on Daily Grindhouse about some of the folks who’re trying to fill the hole left in the indy horror scene by the departure of Fangoria for Georgia, and as we head into Thanksgiving week we’d like to draw some attention to another filmmaker who’s been making inroads of late: Robbie Lopez, who recently wrapped production on CULT OF BLOOD, an irreverent horror comedy starring friend of Daily Grindhouse and Cinedump EIC Jessie Hobson. Like the filmmakers of old forty-deuce who’d wrap up one film and dive into preproduction on another the next day, Lopez is availing himself of the holiday season to do work on PROTÉGÉ MOI. Written and directed by Lopez, the film– categorized as Lopez as a “steampunk horror adventure” stars Richie Ramone as a vampire who’s mysteriously begun to terrorize Soelene (Alexandra Faye Sadeghian), a woman caring for her sick mother. The film is also set to feature Rick Daniels ( Todd Sheets’ ZOMBIE BLOODBATH), Chris Wolfe, Kyle Ament (who previously appeared in CULT OF BLOOD), Nadia White (RETURN TO NUKEM HIGH), and Hobson.

While the film has already secured distribution, an IndieGogo campaign has been set up to help raise funds for post work, which you can contribute to here. As devotees to the DIY, screw-the-system ethos of Times Square and the original grindhouses, we’re personally excited not only to see how MOI turns out but also what Lopez and company have in store down the road as they continue carrying the torch for those filmmakers intent on seeing their work come to fruition, no matter the struggle. Keep your eyes peeled here for further updates, and consider kicking into the campaign as an early holiday gift to the indy horror world!
