In 1996, some of the greatest action stars in American film history joined forces to clean up the streets. They’re planning to do it again in 2014, but this time they’re asking you to join the team.
Fred Williamson, Pam Grier, Jim Brown, and Richard Roundtree are making a sequel to ORIGINAL GANGSTAS. Don’t know about you, but I’m sold already.
Also to appear: Robert Forster, Bernie Casey, Gloria Hendry, and Antonio Fargas.
And now it’s official. This cast makes The Expendables look like The Golden Girls. There’s a red-hot fact for you.
1996’s ORIGINAL GANGSTAS is one of my favorite movies from that year. Directed by Larry Cohen, it gathered so many of the 197os action stars I love so dearly. If you’re a regular reader of this site, I’m guessing you love them too. I’d be happy to watch any of these legends sitting on a park bench explaining calculus, let alone get back to the cinematic ass-kicking they all do so stylishly.
Here’s the thing: This is a home-grown venture. Fred Williamson has the script already. There are producers in place and a production schedule laid out, and all of the actors are committed. Fred is directing and he has a long history of getting movies done. But this kind of a badass throwback isn’t what the major studios are currently in the habit of backing, and we’ve got a lot of lame movies to show for it.
So the production is looking to Kickstarter for funding. Let’s make this happen, please. I’ve never seen a worthier cause. What’s in it for you? Well first of all, a movie you
want need to see. But there’s more, and all of that is detailed on the site.

This is not the last you’ve heard about this project on Daily Grindhouse. I plan to do everything in my personal power to help this movie get made, because I want to see this movie, plain and simple. Please join me!
To get you in a donatin’ kind of mood, please read some of my Daily Grindhouse pieces on some of the films featuring some of these great stars:
