[SHORT FILM OF THE WEEK] GRAVE TORTURE (2012)

We are constantly looking for new and different films when it comes to bringing you the best in genre entertainment. Short films are often where you find the most exciting new filmmakers taking chances, yet most audiences don’t seek them out. With that in mind, we will be showcasing a short film each week in an effort to give a signal boost to shorts we enjoy.

Indonesian horror filmmaker Joko Anwar takes the chilling premise of a young boy accidentally buried alive with the corpse of his father and takes it in a very unexpected direction that plays like a haunted house movie confined to a coffin. If ever you needed to convince someone that jump scares are not always cheap scares, GRAVE TORTURE would be a good piece of evidence to hold up.

Anwar’s latest film, a remake of the classic Indonesian horror film SATAN’S SLAVES, is playing Cinepocalypse 2018, running June 21st-28th at the Music Box Theatre in Chicago. All information and tickets can be found here on the Music Box web site.
