After some badass effects work on 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY in addition to THE ANDROMEDA STRAIN, Douglas Trumbull jumped into the director’s chair for this 1972 classic sci-fi film. This is an early example of the eco-thriller with some incredible effects work by Trumbull who was pulling double duty. The plot is a little slow and I prefer my Bruce Dern to be bat-shit crazy as opposed to watered down like he is here, but the flick is still solid. Dig it, Bastards!
