We are constantly looking for new and different films when it comes to bringing you the best in genre entertainment. Short films are often where you find the most exciting new filmmakers taking chances, yet most audiences don’t seek them out. With that in mind, we will be showcasing a short film each week in an effort to give a signal boost to shorts we enjoy. This week’s short is THE BELLS.
I suppose if I had the inclination to be a less charitable soul, I might complain that THE BELLS lacks an interior logic to its plot. Personally, I liked the way the narrative kept throwing me for a loop as writer/director Virat Pal applied twist after twist to the initially simple premise. If someone wants to call it scattered, I could understand, but I found it good old-fashioned scary fun with a couple of jump scares that honestly rattled me. Sometimes, that is all you need.
