A giant prehistoric mantis that has been playing Rip Van Winkle in an iceberg for millions of years is released and decides to take up what every other brother monster of the 50s enjoys; rampaging through a major city.
One of Universal’s lesser sci-fi efforts is still a ton of fun for fans of the giant bug sub-genre. Surprisingly atmospheric at times, particularly a scene set in a fog. The special effects are hit and miss, but that sound the mantis makes while flying is unforgettable…at least for monster geeks like myself.
