THE GREAT SILENCE (1968)

Two years and six films after DJANGO, the machine of Sergio Corbucci kept on trucking to one of the best films of his career. Better than DJANGO? Yes. Granted, DJANGO is a badass film and the most popular in the Corbucci cannon but there is something about the scope of this film that is more ambitious than DJANGO, something more complete; Whether it’s the creative cinematography or the way it side-steps the traditional western mythos, THE GREAT SILENCE has a reality to it that DJANGO can’t touch. Either way, I can’t think of a better one-two punch for a double feature than THE GREAT SILENCE and DJANGO. Dig it, Bastards!

See on forty deuce,
