THE LAST HARD MEN is one of my favorite westerns. Coburn is ruthless in this flick as Provo, an escaped convict leading his band of criminals to Brugade (Heston), the man who put him in the clink and killed his wife. This flick almost ended up with an X rating back in the day due to the bloodshed and a pretty brutal rape scene. Heston’s performance is full of monologues and old west ponderings, Coburn is the fucking terror bringing vengeance and justice. These two going head to head is something to see. You also get a small dose of Christopher Parks in the first half.
