DOLPH TIME TRAVELS, FINAL 5, BLOODY REVENGE,
AND APOLLO 18 STILL SUCKS,
THIS WEEK ON THE WALL!
Well, Bastards. I hope the jolly fucker in red was nice to all you boys and girls. These are going to be short write-ups due mainly to the fact that DG HQ is overrun by kids who are finishing off the last week of Christmas break. So let’s boogie, we have movies to watch and toy trucks to trip on.
DG PICK OF THE WEEK
We haven’t seen HOSTEL III yet and normally dropping a pick that hasn’t been in front of our eyeballs is akin to turning THE STREET FIGHTER off before the x-ray head punch, it just doesn’t happen. However, we trust Scott Spiegel more than most filmmakers. He just has his button on the nerd pulse. Here’s a snippet from our chat with him where we talked H3:
And now here you are, after producing the first two HOSTEL films, taking over the director’s chair for HOSTEL III. What can you tell us about that?
Oh man this one is going to be really cool. We kind of created this world where nothing is as it seems and I know that sounds corny but it’s 100% true with this one because you really care about these characters. It’s kind of an Americanized HOSTEL movie in a sense. The first two were very European even in their sensibility.
SPECIAL FEATURES:
Commentary with Director Scott Spiegel and Kip Pardue
Bloody Disgusting has been dropping some killer flicks and it looks like they are closing out 2011 with another tough film. CHOP is the directorial debut of Trent Haaga who wrote 2008’s DEADGIRL which was a cool spin on the zombie genre. Anxious to see what he can do with a revenge story.
I fucking hated this movie. Seems to be one of those “either you love it, or hate it” kinda flicks. Guess you know my side. Still, some of you bastards are going to dig it. I just thought it never really delivered the goods well enough.
So why is this pretty girl revenge flick on the THE WALL? Because, it’s a pretty girl revenge flick ya’Bastard. Trust me.
Dolph Lundgren is a special forces soldier who travels back through time and finds himself in an age of sorcery, dragons and hand-to-hand combat. It all sounds cool until you get to the part about Uwe Boll directing. However… time traveling Dolph Lundgren? We’re fucking in!
The fifth film in a horror franchise should be DOA, but this flick is fun as hell.
An Australian found footage film about a network of abandoned train tunnels beneath Sydney. I haven’t seen this yet but the reviews ain’t half bad.
Alex Cox made a cult masterpiece with 1984’s REPO MAN, he followed it up with a loud, rough, and crazy film that is 100% rock and roll. One of the best Gary Oldman performances you can find. Dig it!
That’s it for this week. We’re back next week with: DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK, CONTAGION, SHARK NIGHT, DON’T LET HIM IN, AMERICAN SCREAM KING, and more.
HERE’S TO GOOD WATCHING THIS WEEK, SALUTE!
