Nothing says Christmas like a busty vamp taking apart a sci-fi Santa abduction story. Elvira is back with another Movie Macabre Double Feature and this one is the best of a bunch. SANTA CLAUS CONQUERS THE MARTIANS has some of Elvira’s best commentary but the cool stuff is in the intro and wrap-up: Claymation, puppets, spiked eggnog, and more. This is a new classic to add to the Christmas playlist bastards.

Damn I dig films set during Christmas time. Something about the idea of joy and merriment being stabbed to death by a psychopath just fills me up with the spirit of the season. This isn’t a classic like SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT or even CHRISTMAS EVIL, in part because it’s a little too competent but it gets the job done.

Lamberto Bava, a Dario Argento protege and son of Mario, has made some pretty cool shit. A BLADE IN THE DARK, DEMONS 1 and 2, Bava knows how to build and execute a horror scene. BODY PUZZLE is not one of my favorites from Bava, but it’s pretty interesting to see how this one slowly ramps up the intensity. Worth a watch.

Damn. That was the first thing word out of my mouth when I saw this trailer. I haven’t seen this yet but it looks like director Eamon Hardiman pulled off a cool as hell tribute to 80’s slasher films. Anxious to take a look at this.

I haven’t seen this one yet but I hear it’s going to be bumping around a lot of Top 10 lists in a few weeks. We’ll have a review up sometime next week.

Yeah, this has no place on this list but I dig the hell out of these films. The first one was kind of a good attempt, the second one has some scenes that are cool and ridiculous, but the third one is damn near flawless. M:I3, in addition to having some pretty badass gun-fights, has one of the best foot chases in the past few years and Phillip Seymour Hoffman is fucking awesome in this. Trust me.
COWBOYS & ALIENS is also out this week but that flick can suck a crystal skull.
