[DAILY RUNDOWN] TODAY’S COOL SCREENINGS!

THE DAILY RUNDOWN is a quick look at just a few of the cool screenings and film events happening around the U.S. every day. It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society, and repertory theaters.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2017 (All show times are local)

You guessed it: basically every repertory theater is doing some sort of FRIDAY THE 13TH screening. The one that looks the most promising to me is an all-night marathon of the first eight films in the franchise at the Trylon Cinema in Minneapolis. The marathon starts at 6:00 pm and goes until 8:00 am on Saturday, with some of the films even screening from 35mm prints. Tickets and info can be found here.

For those of you looking for something else, read on…

Anthology Film Archives in New York begins their Paul Bartel retrospective with DEATH RACE 2000 at 7:00 pm and EATING RAOUL at 9:15 pm. Both films are screening from 35mm prints. Tickets and info can be found here.

A double feature of Richard Donner’s slick horror flick THE OMEN (screening from a 35mm print) and HOLOCAUST 2000 (screening from a 16mm print), an Italian ripoff of Donner’s film starring Kirk Douglas, is showing at the New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles staring at 7:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

The Music Box Theatre in Chicago is screening Sam Raimi’s classic EVIL DEAD II from a 35mm print at midnight. Tickets and info can be found here.

George A. Romero’s stone classic MARTIN is being shown by the Denver Film Society at 9:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

An absolute stunner with a pitch-perfect Gene Hackman performance, THE CONVERSATION, is screening at the Museum of the Moving Image in Queens at 7:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

The Parkway Theater in Minneapolis is doing a double feature of Stuart Gordon favorites starting at 7:00 pm. Both RE-ANIMATOR and FROM BEYOND are screening from 35mm prints. Tickets and info can be found here.
