THE DAILY RUNDOWN is a quick look at just a few of the cool screenings and film events happening around the U.S. every day. It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society, and repertory theaters.

Sidney Lumet’s excellent biopic SERPICO is screening from a 35mm print at the IFC Center in New York at 9:25 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

The American Cinematheque in Los Angeles is doing a double feature of films from genre auteur Takashi Miike. AUDITION is first up at 7:30 pm, followed by CITY OF LOST SOULS. Both films are screening from 35mm prints. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

 

Crazed kung-fu comedy THE DRAGON LIVES AGAIN is playing at FilmScene in Iowa City, IA at 10:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

The Metrograph in New York is screening CREEPSHOW from a 35mm print at 7:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

SCARFACE is screening from a 35mm print at Doc Films on the University of Chicago campus at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $5 at the door. All info can be found here.

 

 

The Alamo Drafthouse in Austin is screening cult comedy FREAKED from a rare 35mm print at 9:55 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

The new 4K restoration of NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD is playing at the Music Box Theatre in Chicago at 9:45 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
