THE DAILY RUNDOWN is a quick look at just a few of the cool screenings and film events happening around the U.S. every day. It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society, and repertory theaters.

TUESDAY, MAY 2, 2017 (All show times are local)

EXISTENZ, David Cronenberg’s clever take on the malleable nature of reality, is playing at the Alamo Drafthouse in Brooklyn at 9:30 pm. This is a 35mm screening. Tickets and info can be found here.

The Music Box Theatre in Chicago has a super dark one-two punch from David Lynch. TWIN PEAKS: FIRE WALK WITH ME plays at 4:15 pm and LOST HIGHWAY is at 7:00 pm. Both films are being screened from 35mm prints. Tickets and info can be found here.

It s hard to call any Troma movie a classic, but if one comes close to qualifying, it is THE TOXIC AVENGER. You can catch it at the Alamo Drafthouse in San Francisco at 7:00 pm to decide for yourself. Tickets and info can be found here.

Quad Cinema in New York is showing a double feature from cult director Jeff Lieberman at 7:00 pm. First up is the proto-slasher JUST BEFORE DAWN followed by the bizarre LSD-is-bad-for-you horror of BLUE SUNSHINE. Tickets and info can be found here.

The Alamo Drafthouse in Winchester, VA is screening DISCO GODFATHER starring cult favorite Rudy Ray Moore at 7:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

MAD MAX: FURY ROAD, George Miller’s triumphant return to the franchise that put him on the map, is playing at the Senator Theatre in Baltimore, MD at 1:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
