[DAILY RUNDOWN] TODAY’S COOL SCREENINGS!

THE DAILY RUNDOWN is a quick look at just a few of the cool screenings and film events happening around the U.S. every day. It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society, and repertory theaters.

THURSDAY, JUNE 15, 2017 (All show times are local)

The Alamo Drafthouse in Brooklyn is showing the extremely funny DROP DEAD GORGEOUS at 7:00 pm and 9:45 pm. These screenings are from a 35mm print. Tickets and info can be found here.

Remember when Penny Marshall was cranking out really solid to great mainstream comedies? The New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles does. They have a double feature of two of her earliest films. At 7:30 pm is JUMPIN’ JACK FLASH and at 9:45 pm is BIG. Both films are being screened from 35mm prints. Tickets and info can be found here.

Nitehawk Cinema in Brooklyn is screening the trash classic XTRO from a 35mm print at 9:30 pm. Needless to say, this is a big deal and you should all go check it out. Tickets and info can be found here.

John Cassavetes’ THE KILLING OF A CHINESE BOOKIE is playing at the Charles Theatre in Baltimore at 9:00 pm. This is a 35mm screening. Tickets and info can be found here.

The Alamo Drafthouse in Denver is showing the wonderful, mind-twisting LOOPER at 7:30 pm with Noah Segan presenting the film. Tickets and info can be found here.

SLEEPWALKERS is a singularly strange horror film that feels like Stephen King was fed random plot elements and had to figure out a way to turn them into a cohesive story. In other words, it’s a lot of fun. You can catch it screening from a 35mm print at Metrograph in New York at 5:00 pm and 9:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

The Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline, MA is showing MEN IN BLACK at 7:00 pm. This is a 35mm screening. Tickets and info can be found here.
