[DAILY RUNDOWN] TODAY’S COOL SCREENINGS!

THE DAILY RUNDOWN is a quick look at just a few of the cool screenings and film events happening around the U.S. every day. It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society, and repertory theaters.

FRIDAY, JUNE 23, 2017 (All show times are local)

Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington, NY has an amazing, cannibalistic double feature starting at 10:00 pm. First is Tobe Hooper’s original, much imitated but never equaled THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE followed by the fun and campy horror comedy of MOTEL HELL. Both films are being screened from 35mm prints. Tickets and info can be found here.

TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE: THE MOVIE is one of the best horror anthology films to come along. It’s screening from a 35mm print at the Denver Film Society at 9:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

The midnight movie at Cinefamily in Los Angeles is the underrated JENNIFER’S BODY. This is a 35mm screening with director Karyn Kusama there for a Q&A. Tickets and info can be found here.

Nitehawk Cinema in Brooklyn is presenting what could be the ultimate midnight movie in STREET TRASH. Check out this ’80s favorite gorefest as it screens from a 35mm print. Tickets and info can be found here.

FINAL DESTINATION 2 is the best film in the franchise. It is playing at 10:00 pm at the Alamo Drafthouse in Houston. Tickets and info can be found here.

It is difficult to explain the awesomeness of MANIAC COP 2, so you should just see it for yourself at Videology Bar and Cinema in Brooklyn at 9:15 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

You should never turn down a chance to see LETHAL WEAPON screen from a 35mm print. It is showing at the Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline, MA at midnight. Tickets and info can be found here.

THE THING is playing a midnight show at the IFC Center in New York. Needless to say, you should all go see it. Tickets and info can be found here.
