THE DAILY RUNDOWN is a quick look at just a few of the cool screenings and film events happening around the U.S. every day. It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society, and repertory theaters.

Cinefamily in Los Angeles is doing the double feature of Takashi Miike’s bonkers comedy-musical THE HAPPINESS OF THE KATAKURIS (screened from a 35mm print) and the insane cyberpunk visuals of TETSUO: THE IRON MAN at 7:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

 

A 35mm print of Sergio Leone’s landmark A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS is screening at Nitehawk Cinema in Brooklyn at 9:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

If there is one thing that should be considered common knowledge when talking about films, it’s the fact that William Sadler improves everything. Watch him steal the show in BILL & TED’S BOGUS JOURNEY at the Alamo Drafthouse in Ashburn, VA at 7:20 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

The Castro Theatre in San Francisco is doing the very cool double feature of ROSEMARY’S BABY at 7:00 pm and GET OUT at 9:30 pm. Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they’re not out to get you. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

 

The Mario Bava series at Quad Cinema in New York carries on with A HATCHET FOR THE HONEYMOON at 7:00 pm and ERIK THE CONQUEROR (screening from a 16mm print) at 9:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

 

Michael Dudikoff stars in Cannon Films’ AMERICAN NINJA 2 at the Alamo Drafthouse in Yonkers, NY at 9:00 pm. Believe it or not, this is a 35mm screening. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

As part of the Scary Movies X series going on at the Film Society of Lincoln Center in New York two cult horror-comedies from enigmatic actor/producer/director Bob Balaban are being screened from 35mm prints. At 7:00 pm is his twisted black comedy PARENTS. Tickets and info for that show are available here. At 9:00 pm is the lighter side of zombies with MY BOYFRIEND’S BACK.
