[DAILY RUNDOWN] TODAY’S COOL SCREENINGS!

THE DAILY RUNDOWN is a quick look at just a few of the cool screenings and film events happening around the U.S. every day. It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society and repertory theater.

THURSDAY, APRIL 6, 2017 (All show times are local)

BAMcinématek in Brooklyn is doing a retrospective of Wesley Snipes films through the weekend. Today, you can see UNDISPUTED at 4:30 pm and 7:00 pm and WHITE MEN CAN’T JUMP at 9:30 pm. Both films are being screened from 35mm prints. Info and tickets can be found here.

It is too easy a joke to point out the parallels between what is currently happening in the political arena in this country and the vicious comedy found in Mike Judge’s IDIOCRACY. Instead, just go check out the film at the Alamo Drafthouse in Chandler, AZ at 8:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

Doc Films on the University of Chicago campus is doing a double feature that can only be described as kickass. At 7:00 pm, be treated to a 35mm screening of THE RAID: REDEMPTION and at 9:15 pm, check out the Coen Bros.’ directorial debut, BLOOD SIMPLE. Tickets are $5 at the door. Info can be found here.

Let’s face it, even with as cheesy as it can be, DEEP BLUE SEA is an awesome killer shark movie. The Alamo Drafthouse in Yonkers, NY is screening a 35mm print of what you could argue is Renny Harlin’s best movie at 9:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

The Metrograph in New York is screening a rare 35mm print of DARK STAR, John Carpenter’s student film that he extended into his first feature film at 9:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

BULLITT, the classic Steve McQueen car chase/action film, is playing at the Alamo Drafthouse in Omaha, NE at 7:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
