THE DAILY RUNDOWN is a quick look at just a few of the cool screenings and film events happening around the U.S. every day. It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society, and repertory theaters.

FRIDAY, JULY 21, 2017 (All show times are local)

Quad Cinema in New York continues their Mario Bava retrospective with RABID DOGS screening from a 35mm print at 5:00 pm, THE WHIP AND THE BODY showing at 7:05 pm, and a 35mm screening of 5 DOLLS FOR AN AUGUST MOON at 9:10 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

Fred Dekker’s director’s cut of comedy-horror favorite NIGHT OF THE CREEPS is showing at 10:00 pm at Cinefamily in Los Angeles. Tickets and info can be found here.

The Chicago Cinema Society is presenting a screening of KUSO, the controversial first feature film from Flying Lotus, at the Davis Theater at midnight. Tickets and info can be found here.

Someone alert Jon Abrams, THE MUPPET MOVIE is screening from a 35mm print at Museum of the Moving Image in Queens at 2:30 pm and 5:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

THE BIRD WITH THE CRYSTAL PLUMAGE, Dario Argento’s directorial debut, is the midnight movie at Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline, MA. This is a 35mm screening. Tickets and info can be found here.

One of the better horror remakes of recent years is Alexandre Aja’s take on THE HILLS HAVE EYES. It is screening from a 35mm print at Nitehawk Cinema in Brooklyn at midnight. Tickets and info can be found here.

A 35mm print of BEETLEJUICE is screening at the IFC Center in New York at midnight. Tickets and info can be found here.
