THE DAILY RUNDOWN is a quick look at just a few of the cool screenings and film events happening around the U.S. every day. It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society, and repertory theaters.

The New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles is running double features all this week with OKJA. First up is BABE: PIG IN THE CITY, George Miller’s ballsy, superior sequel at 7:30 pm. OKJA follows at 9:40 pm. Both films are being screened from 35m prints. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

 

Sydney Pollack’s twisty political conspiracy thriller THREE DAYS OF THE CONDOR is playing at the Alamo Drafthouse in Brooklyn at 7:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

The Siskel Film Center in Chicago is screening Mario Bava’s RABID DOGS (under the alternate title KIDNAPPED) at 6:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

Wes Craven‘s brutal, unrelenting THE HILLS HAVE EYES is screening at the Film Society of Lincoln Center in New York at 9:15 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

The Alamo Drafthouse in Kansas City, MO is showing Rian Johnson’s modern cult favorite BRICK at 7:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

As part of their Pedro Almodovar retrospective, the Denver Film Society is showing his breakthrough screwball dramedy WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN at 7:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

Robert Mitchum gives one of his best late-career performances in the downbeat crime thriller/character study THE FRIENDS OF EDDIE COYLE. It’s playing at Nitehawk Cinema in Brooklyn at 7:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

Watch Charlton Heston go over-the-top in that way that only he is able in SOYLENT GREEN. It’s playing at the Senator Theatre in Baltimore at 1:00 pm. Hopefully they will have plenty of that tasty soylent green at the concession stand! Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

Carl Theodor Dreyer’s hypnotic, unsettling VAMPYR is screening from a 35mm print at Anthology Film Archives in New York at 7:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
