[DAILY RUNDOWN] TODAY’S COOL SCREENINGS!

THE DAILY RUNDOWN is a quick look at just a few of the cool screenings and film events happening around the U.S. every day. It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society, and repertory theaters.

 

TUESDAY, AUGUST 8, 2017 (All show times are local)

 

Seminal horror film EYES WITHOUT A FACE is being screened from a 35mm print at 4:30 pm at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

The Denver Film Society continues their Pedro Almodovar series with his whacked out version of a serial killer film MATADOR at 7:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

The double features with OKJA continue this week at the New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles. Tonight it is the superior Australian JAWS knockoff RAZORBACK at 7:30 pm followed by OKJA at 9:35 pm. Both films are being screened from 35mm prints. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

 

There are two great Michael Mann films playing at the Metrograph in New York. At 2:00 pm and 9:00 pm is his magnum opus HEAT. Tickets and info for that film can be found here. At 6:30 pm is his dynamite directorial debut THIEF. Tickets and info for that film can be found here.

 

 

 

Mario Bava’s loopy, subtly sinister LISA AND THE DEVIL is playing at the Siskel Film Center in Chicago at 6:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

Quad Cinema in New York is doing a double feature of Harold Ramis/Rodney Dangerfield comedies CADDYSHACK and BACK TO SCHOOL starting at 7:00 pm. Both films are being screened from 35mm prints. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

 

PEE WEE’S BIG ADVENTURE is playing at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, TX at 7:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

Hitchcock’s extremely entertaining STRANGERS ON A TRAIN is playing at the Amherst Cinema in Amherst, MA at 7:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
