DEL TORO ON PACIFIC RIM

HEY BASTARDS.

Guillermo del Toro has done big movies before (HELLBOY, HELLBOY II, BLADE II) but he has never gone this big. del Toro is about to start filming PACIFIC RIM, an old school giant monster vs robot movie that will star Charlie Hunnam and del Toro regular Ron Perlman (who also star together in SONS OF ANARCHY).

In an exclusive interview with Wired, del Toro talked about his vision for the film that has the DG crew pretty jacked. “It’s really, it’s a very, very beautiful poem to giant monsters. Giant monsters versus giant robots. Twenty-five-story-high robots beating the crap out of 25-story-high monsters,” said del Toro. “We’re trying to create a world in which the characters are real and how it would affect our world politically, how it would affect the landscape if creatures like this really came out of the sea, etc.”

This is a really cool interview and worth a read. del Toro also talks about vampires, zombies, Romero (“Romero has stated several times that he was just trying to do his own version of I Am Legend. And you can see evidence of that. They are now intrinsically connected in a strange way.”), and more. Check it out at WIRED.

SEE YOU ON FORTY DEUCE,
