Since disbanding in 2012, there have been swaths of rumors of horror punk/goth/emo band My Chemical Romance’s reunion. Every time they were quashed by one or several of the band members within 24 hours.
Until now. Happy Halloween.
On a newly revamped instagram, My Chemical Romance announced a, hopefully not brief, reunion with a show taking place in California on December 20, 2019. This makes a lot of sense. Gerard and his family live in California and as he’s the most consistently busy between his solo work, comics, Netflix adaptation, and now soundtrack work for Clerks 3, it’s only logical for everything to come to him.
Will this be a one-off? Honestly, more than likely. But like the rest of the internet, I will hold out my little baby emo tendrils of hope that this may lead to a small tour if not new music entirely. I mean, why release all new merch with RESURRECTION plastered all over it for just one night? Seems a bit like overkill to me, though Way does seem to have a flair for the dramatic.
What a dark ray of sunshine on this otherwise crappily weathered Halloween day.
