JCVD plays Lyon Gaultier, a soldier in the French Foreign Legion who goes AWOL and returns to the States after receiving news that his brother was murdered. Almost upon arrival, Lyon dives into the seedy world of underground street fighting, looking to raise money for both his brother’s widowed family, as well as feed his addiction to body oil.

 

Though many appreciate this Van Damme classic, few realize that LIONHEART is actually a loose biography of King Richard I of England. Consider the facts: Richard rode on boats, not unlike Lyon. Richard’s brother Henry was married to Margret, who was French. And like Jean-Claude, King Dick was very photogenic:
