Lately, I’ve been having awful nightmares. The voices may be the souls of those you’ve beheaded… they curse me from ponds of blood… or mountains of spikes… from ghastly places… I can hear them as they send chills down my spine. They say that they’ll put a curse upon the Ogami line and they keep repeating that over and over. – Ogami Itto’s wife Sugito, LONE WOLF AND CUB: SWORD OF VENGEANCE (1972)
The Yagyu clan just stepped in a giant pile of revenge called Ogami Itto; 12 miles of bad road with a blade, his baby (Daigoro), and a cart tricked out with tools of justice. Based on the classic manga written by Kazuo Koike with stunning art from Goseki Kojima. This is the first of six films in the series; an origin story that is both patient and operatically violent. Dig it, Bastards.
SEE YOU ON FORTY DEUCE,
