MOTHER’S DAY is a campy little flick with a pretty hard edge. A group of friends reunite for a weekend in the woods (people camp a lot in horror movies, if you haven’t picked up on that already), but instead of skinny-dipping in the lake and back-rubs in the shower, they instead happen across a psychotic old woman and her two redneck sons. Put through the ringer, the women are raped, beaten, and one ends up dead. Enraged, the remaining girls decide to exact some revenge on their hillbilly captors.

This movie is flawed, but I dig it nonetheless. MOTHER’S DAY successfully blends black humor and horror, which is the perfect combination for a Saturday evening in front of the box.

The ending is one of my favorites.
