There’s no question that Guillermo Del Toro’s robots vs giant monsters pic PACIFIC RIM is one of the year’s most anticipated genre flicks, and the trailer issued today just makes the wait until the film opens on July 12 all the more painful. Sure, it’s a summer movie trailer, so we expect a bunch of good-looking explosions and people yelling at each other, but it also looks great, and Del Toro has yet to disappoint.
The flick stars Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Charlie Hunnam and, of course, Ron Perlman. Hopefully this will finally be the alien apocalypse epic that so many blockbusters have promised and failed to deliver. (I’m looking DIRECTLY at you, SKYLINE.)
