RZA FINDS NO MAN’S LAND AND TAKES ON THE MONGOL EMPIRE

HEY BASTARDS.

With THE MAN WITH THE IRON FISTS set to kick the hell outta your eyeballs this Friday, it’s no surprise that we are hearing about a wave of new projects for RZA, the director of the flick. I haven’t seen the film yet but based on what I know about RZA, his knowledge of action films, and his dedication to proper execution, I think he’s a safe bet to be filming brawls for a long time to come.

THR is reporting that RZA has signed on to direct John Milius’ biopic GENGHIS KAHN in addition to the action film NO MAN’S LAND (thankfully, not a remake of the Charlie Sheen, D.B. Sweeny film). The Khan film will be executive produced by John Milius (APOCALYPSE NOW) who also wrote the script for the film.

As for NO MAN’S LAND, all you need to know is that it has been described as having echos of THE WARRIORS. Still hungry? Me too. According to THR, the script, by Trey Ellis and David Klass, “centers on a man who steals a powerful criminal’s diamond that soon proves to be far more valuable than initially thought. With the help of a dancer, he attempts to stay alive and cash in on the jewel.” LAND will most likely be the follow-up to THE MAN WITH THE IRON FISTS.

I am not sure what the announcement of these two projects means for the recently announced HAPPY! but any way you cut it, our boy has a schedule that smells like a whole lotta cool is coming our way. Dig it!

The skinny:
Quentin Tarantino presents The Man With the Iron Fists, an action-adventure inspired by kung-fu classics as interpreted by his longtime collaborators RZA and Eli Roth.  Making his debut as a big-screen director and leading man, RZA—alongside a stellar international cast led by Russell Crowe and Lucy Liu—tells the epic story of warriors, assassins and a lone outsider hero in nineteenth-century China who must unite to destroy the clan traitor who would destroy them all.

Since his arrival in China’s Jungle Village, the town’s blacksmith (RZA) has been forced by radical tribal factions to create elaborate tools of destruction.  When the clans’ brewing war boils over, the stranger channels an ancient energy to transform himself into a human weapon.  As he fights alongside iconic heroes and against soulless villains, one man must harness this power to become savior of his adopted people.

Blending astonishing martial-arts sequences from some of the masters of this world with the signature vision he brings as the leader of the Wu-Tang Clan and as one of hip-hop’s most dominant figures of the past two decades, RZA embarks upon his most ambitious, stylized and thrilling project to date.
