An underrated Polanski film shot just before ROSEMARY’S BABY is a classy send up of the Hammer films and still manages one or two moments of creepy thrills and more than enough Sharon Tate to make the tongues wag. The reviews weren’t great at the time but this film has gained a certified cult following. It had to be a shock to the system to see this come from the director after he had just completed REPULSION and CUL-DE-SAC. Is it me or does Tim Burton’s DARK SHADOWS re-imagining pull from this?
