This is still one of the best WW2 adventure films ever made. An all-star cast that slip naturally into their roles and amazing story equal a film that kicks an enormous amount of ass. J. Lee Thompson knew how to handle multiple genres, he did CAPE FEAR just before GUNS, but he was most at home in an action film. Gregory Peck said there were only four directors he could trust to tell him whether or not he was giving a good performance: Alfred Hitchcock, George Cukor, William Wyler and Thompson.

An impregnable fortress… An invincible army… and the unstoppable commando team.

See you on forty deuce.
