Superb Don Siegel thriller about drug trafficking deserves more of a reputation. Eli Wallach, in only his second film, gives a chilling, layered performance as a psychotic killer who will stop at nothing to retrieve a package of heroin off of some unsuspecting carriers.  His confrontation with a mother and daughter is not to be missed.  Makes good use of its San Francisco locations.
