–DG PICK OF THE WEEK–
Yeah, this is a reissue of films that have been available separately, but The Wall is a giant sucker for trucksploitation. None of these flicks hit out of the park; they all dwell in mediocrity while occasionaly reaching down to pick up a pile of shit to tell us what they’ve found, but they’re fun as hell.
THE TRUCKER’S WOMEN is probably the worst of the bunch but you get a nice Larry Drake performance as Diesel Joe. Any other day I would say CONCRETE COWBOYS would win the day since it has Jerry Reed and Tom Selleck’s mustache, but MOON FIRE TRUCKER has down and dirty truckers doing battle with a Nazi hiding out in Mexico. Dig it, Bastards!
Bigfoot snags himself some hot trim and some bikers decide to go toe-to-toe with the big beast in one of the worst squatchploitation (h/t The Creeper) since The Six Million Dollar man ripped the hairy fuckers arm off. Because there was a film being shot and money exchanged, John Carradine makes an appearance.
Bill Zebub and a pack full of crazy = GET ON THIS GOOD SHIT!
Come for the Joe Blasco (ISLA, SHE WOLF OF THE SS) special effects, stay for Chris Sarandon, boobs-a-plenty, and necrophilia (not necessarily in that order). This flick is better than it should be thanks in part to the Dean Koontz source material.
The Wall hasn’t seen this hot little bitch, but rumor has it that it contains mud-wrestling and playmates. We’re in.
Damn, Scorpion Releasing’s sub-label Katrina’s Nightmare Theater is full of all kinds of geeky badass. The Wall hasn’t seen THRILLKILL but MARK OF CAIN is awesome! It’s kind of a classic bad-twin flick but Bruce Pittman who did PROM NIGHT II was actually a decent director and does some cool stuff with this.
Mary Jane, beers, zombies, boobs, and blood by the gallons. All things a growing boy needs.
Young artists like Jim Jarmush and Amos Poe modeling their style and approach after punk music. New York would never be the same. Dig it!
That’s it for this week, Bastards.
We’re back next week with: BABA YAGA (Blu), THE MOUNTAIN (Blu), NEW YORK DOLLS: LIVE AT THE BOWERY, and more.
HERE’S TO GOOD WATCHING THIS WEEK, SALUTE!
