The Tingler…no this isn’t the sex toy that The Creeper busts out after a long night at the Waffle House. It’s an insect like creature created by fear that wraps itself around the human spine and can only be destroyed by screaming. At least that’s what scientist Vincent Price speculates in this wacky horror movie by shock maestro William Castle.
Infamous flick features one of Castle’s most famous audience manipulation gimmicks: Percepto. The crazy bastard installed buzzers on certain seats in selected movie houses, shocking film patrons during key scenes in the film. It’s almost as hammy as some of Price’s acting, particularly during his trip on LSD; the first such scene in film history.
