!UPDATED WITH FAT “NO” FROM SNYDER’S REP! ZACK SNYDER DEVELOPING STAR WARS FILM BASED ON SEVEN SAMURAI

WHAT’S DOIN’, BASTARDS?

UPDATED: According to Zack Snyder’s agent, the story below ain’t happening after all. “While he is super flattered because he is a huge fan, Zack is not involved in any way with the new Star Wars. He is currently in post on his two films, Man of Steel and 300: Battle of Artemisia.” So, that happened… but so did this:

Lawrence “I made the best STAR WARS film of all-time” Kasdan and Simon “just forget I had anything to do with JUMPER” Kinberg are hard at work on Episode VII. Disney is looking at the long gestating live-action STAR WARS television show. So what’s a lonely Zack Snyder to do? MAN OF STEEL 2? Maybe. X-MEN: TH REALLY LAST STAND? Probably not. A STAR WARS film that takes place after RETURN OF THE JEDI but in parallel to the new trilogy? Dominoes, motherfucker.

SYBIL DANNING

According to Vulture, Zack Snyder is developing a live action STAR WARS film based heavily off of BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS, by which we mean Akira Kurosawa’s little seen indie film SEVEN SAMURAI which may one day make a name for itself. I don’t know about you, but the idea of a barely clad Sybil Danning running around the universe with Jedis chasing John Saxon is pretty damn cool. On the serious tip though, I dig the idea of a SEVEN SAMURAI type story in the STAR WARS universe, it just fits. There’s not a lot of difference between a Samurai and a Jedi, cinematically at least. Also, you should know the idea gives me a giant nerd erection. Like the kind that hurts. But a nerd erection with a lightsaber, so don’t fuck with it.

LOCKED AND LOADED,

MR. SIX

The Marvel STAR WARS comic book did a Seven Samurai storyline right after wrapping up the six-issue adaptation of the first movie. In other words, this is exactly what I’d expect of Snyder at this point.
