THE DAILY RUNDOWN is a quick look at just a few of the cool screenings and film events happening around the U.S. every day. It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society, and repertory theaters.

TUESDAY, MAY 16, 2017 (All show times are local)

FACE/OFF is some prime Nicolas Cage/John Travolta silliness put together with style to burn by John Woo. It is playing as part of the It Came From ’97 series at the Alamo Drafthouse in Yonkers, NY at 7:30 pm. This is a 35mm screening. Tickets and info can be found here.

Did you know there is a film called THE INCREDIBLE TWO HEADED TRANSPLANT in which Bruce Dern plays a mad scientist who is experimenting with doing head transplants and that the film also features Casey Kasem? Neither did I. If you are in or near Portland, OR at 7:30 pm, you can see it screened from a 16mm print at the Hollywood Theatre. Tickets and info can be found here.

NEAR DARK could be considered one of the five greatest vampire films ever made. You can see Kathryn Bigelow’s modern classic screened from a 35mm print in all its melancholy, bloody glory at 10:00 pm at the Alamo Drafthouse in Brooklyn. Tickets and info can be found here.

The Senator Theatre in Baltimore, MD is showing EYES WIDE SHUT, Stanley Kubrick’s final film, at 1:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

When you get a chance to see one of the films on the “video nasty” list on the big screen, you take it. CONTAMINATION is playing at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, TX at 10:35 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

The Laurelhurst Theater and Pub In Portland, OR is showing ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO’S NEST at 6:30 pm and 9:15 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
