THE DAILY RUNDOWN is a quick look at just a few of the cool screenings and film events happening around the U.S. every day. It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society, and repertory theaters.

As part of the Released and Abandoned: Forgotten Oddities of the Home Video Era series, DAILY GRINDHOUSE presents WNUF HALLOWEEN SPECIAL at Comfort Station in Chicago at 8:00 pm. The It Came From ’97 series continues at the Alamo Drafthouse in Yonkers, NY with a 35mm screening of EVENT HORIZON at 9:15 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

A 35mm screening of GOODFELLAS? You better get there early to get a seat for this one. Martin Scorsese’s classic is playing at the Castro Theatre in San Francisco at 6:45 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

The Senator Theatre in Baltimore, MD is screening the original FRIDAY THE 13TH at 9:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

California neo-noir CUTTER’S WAY is playing at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, TX at 7:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

To call Sergio Leone’s four hour plus director’s cut of ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA an epic is an understatement. It is showing at Quad Cinema in New York at 2:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

Robert Zemeckis’ first two films as a director are being shown as a double feature at the New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles. I WANNA HOLD YOUR HAND is at 7:30 pm and the very funny USED CARS follows it at 9:40 pm. Both films are being screened from 35mm prints. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

 

What is a more obscure subgenre than “Nunsploitation?” How about Japanese “Nunsploitation?” SCHOOL OF THE HOLY BEAST is screening from a 35mm print at the Alamo Drafthouse in Brooklyn at 9:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
