THE DAILY RUNDOWN is a quick look at just a few of the cool screenings and film events happening around the U.S. every day. It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society, and repertory theaters.

As part of the Released and Abandoned: Forgotten Oddities of the Home Video Era series, DAILY GRINDHOUSE presents WNUF HALLOWEEN SPECIAL at Comfort Station in Chicago at 8:00 pm. Released and Abandoned is curated and hosted by our own Paul Freitag-Fey. This is a free screening. All info can be found here.
A 35mm screening of GOODFELLAS? You better get there early to get a seat for this one. Martin Scorsese’s classic is playing at the Castro Theatre in San Francisco at 6:45 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
California neo-noir CUTTER’S WAY is playing at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, TX at 7:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
To call Sergio Leone’s four hour plus director’s cut of ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA an epic is an understatement. It is showing at Quad Cinema in New York at 2:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
Robert Zemeckis’ first two films as a director are being shown as a double feature at the New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles. I WANNA HOLD YOUR HAND is at 7:30 pm and the very funny USED CARS follows it at 9:40 pm. Both films are being screened from 35mm prints. Tickets and info can be found here.
What is a more obscure subgenre than “Nunsploitation?” How about Japanese “Nunsploitation?” SCHOOL OF THE HOLY BEAST is screening from a 35mm print at the Alamo Drafthouse in Brooklyn at 9:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
If you know of an under-the-radar theater or film society regularly putting together repertory screenings or special events, feel free to let me know on Twitter!
