[DAILY RUNDOWN] TODAY’S COOL SCREENINGS!

THE DAILY RUNDOWN is a quick look at just a few of the cool screenings and film events happening around the U.S. every day. It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society, and repertory theaters.

FRIDAY, JUNE 2, 2017 (All show times are local)

BUBBA HO-TEP, Don Coscarelli’s other masterpiece, is showing at the Alamo Drafthouse in Houston, TX at 10:15 pm. Go catch one of Bruce Campbell’s best performances. Tickets and info can be found here.

The IFC Center in New York does not know the meaning of the phrase “too much of a good thing.” Start your weekend right with midnight screenings of THE FRENCH CONNECTION, JAWS, MAD MAX, and MEAN STREETS. Tickets and info can be found here.

The Denver Film Society is screening TWILIGHT ZONE: THE MOVIE at 9:30 pm. Despite the overall uneven nature of the film, it is still a must see on the big screen for the segments directed by Joe Dante and George Miller. Tickets and info can be found here.

Orson Welles’ nightmarish adaptation of Kafka’s THE TRIAL is playing at the Hollywood Theatre in Portland, OR at 9:30 pm. For my money, this is Anthony Perkins’ greatest performance. Tickets and info can be found here.

DEATH LINE (a.k.a. RAW MEAT) is the midnight movie at the Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline, MA. Director Gary Sherman will be on hand for a Q&A after the film. Tickets and info can be found here.

The New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles is presenting a double feature of George Miller’s THE ROAD WARRIOR at 7:00 pm and MAD MAX: FURY ROAD at 9:05 pm. Both films are being screened from 35mm prints. Tickets and info can be found here.

Shot-on-VHS underground exploitation classic BLONDE DEATH is showing at Nitehawk Cinema in Brooklyn at midnight. Do not miss this one! Tickets and info can be found here.
