EXPERMINENTAL ANIMATORS RUN WRAKE AND DAVE BORTHWICK PASS AWAY

HEY BASTARDS.

Sad news from the world of animation today, as two great masters of animated short films have passed away.

Dave Borthwick was the stop-motion animator behind the amazing THE SECRET ADVENTURES OF TOM THUMB and was working on a feature-length film based on Gilbert Shelton’s underground classic comic THE FABULOUS FURRY FREAK BROTHERS with his studio The Bolex Brothers, a six-year-old trailer to which can be seen below. (We’ll skip over the big-budget DOOGAL.)

Short film animator Run Wrake, whose experimental animation ranks with the likes of Bruce Bickford in terms of genuinely curious, hypnotic weirdness, has also passed away. His short film RABBIT, seen below, was BAFTA-nominated for Best Animated Short Film. He was 47.

KEEP THE POPCORN BUTTERED AND BURNT,
