John Carpenter followed up HALLOWEEN with this safe but solid good old fashioned ghost story. Carpenter regulars Jamie Lee Curtis, Adrienne Barbeau and Tom Atkins deliver capable performances in a supernatural revenge tale about a fishing community that is beset by an evil fog and some very deadly sea spirits that hide within its eerie glow. The effective soundtrack (scored by Carpenter) plays well over the haunting images, particularly during shots of the fog rolling off the sea and into the town. Remade in 2005.
