UPTOWN SATURDAY NIGHT (1974)

This is the first in an unnamed and unofficial trilogy of films, followed by LET’S DO IT AGAIN and A PIECE OF THE ACTION. This film is considered a classic comedy of the 70’s and the Poitier/Cosby pairing would prove to be a hit with both crowds and critics (though the best pairing in Cosby’s career is the longtime Culp/Cosby partnership that paid off in all kinds of cool with HICKEY AND BOGGS). Uptown also features a small performance by another comedic legend, Richard Pryor (who made this just after THE MACK and HIT!).

SEE YOU ON FORTY DEUCE,
