[DAILY RUNDOWN] TODAY’S COOL SCREENINGS!

THE DAILY RUNDOWN is a quick look at just a few of the cool screenings and film events happening around the U.S. every day. It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society, and repertory theaters.

 

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 23, 2017 (All show times are local)

 

The Alamo Drafthouse in Yonkers, NY is screening John Frankenheimer’s excellent, very upsetting sci-fi tale SECONDS at 9:15 pm. This is Rock Hudson’s finest moment as an actor and well worth seeing on the big screen. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

John Carpenter’s epic TV-movie ELVIS is screening at the Hollywood Theatre in Portland, OR at 7:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

The Art Theatre in Champaign, IL is showing Anna Biller’s gorgeous THE LOVE WITCH at 10:00 pm. This is a free screening. All info can be found here.

 

 

Harold Ramis understood and used Bill Murray’s comedic persona better than probably any other director. You can see the height of their artistic collaboration when GROUNDHOG DAY screens at the Museum of Modern Art in New York at 4:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

The Alamo Drafthouse in San Antonio is screening Wes Craven‘s demented urban fairy tale THE PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS at 8:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

You can catch PREDATOR at the Senator Theatre in Baltimore at 8:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

The Chicago Film Society is screening LAST OF THE COMANCHES from a 35mm print at 7:30 pm. This screening is taking place on the Northeastern Illinois University campus. Tickets are $5 at the door. All info can be found here.

 

 

RAGING BULL is being screened from a 35mm print at Anthology Film Archives in New York at 6:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

When life gives you the opportunity to see SLEEPAWAY CAMP projected from a 35mm print, you take it! The Alamo Drafthouse in Kansas City is showing it at 7:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
