THE DAILY RUNDOWN is a quick look at just a few of the cool screenings and film events happening around the U.S. every day. It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society, and repertory theaters.

 

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2017 (All show times are local)

 

The brilliant dark fantasy THE CITY OF LOST CHILDREN is playing at the Alamo Drafthouse in Kansas City at 7:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

Classic Burt Reynolds/Hal Needham team up SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT is playing at the Senator Theatre in Baltimore at 7:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

Rodolfo Guzmán Huerta, better known as El Santo, would have turned 100-years-old on September 23. Comfort Station in Chicago is presenting EL SANTO VS. LA MUJERES VAMPIRO at 8:00 pm to celebrate. This is a free screening. Info can be found here.

 

 

1990: THE BRONX WARRIORS is screening from a 35mm print at the Alamo Drafthouse in Brooklyn at 9:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

The new 4K restoration of SUSPIRIA is screening at the Denver Film Society at 7:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

In tribute to the late, great Tobe Hooper, The Art Theatre in Champaign, IL is showing his masterpiece THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE at 9:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

John Waters’ super fun mainstream breakthrough HAIRSPRAY is screening from a 35mm print at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, TX at 9:45 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

FilmScene in Iowa City, IA is showing Joe Dante’s classic werewolf film THE HOWLING at 10:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

With a title like THE KILLER SHREWS, you basically know what you’re in for. It is playing at the Joy Cinema and Pub in Tigard, OR at 9:15 pm. This is a free screening, but you must be over 21 years of age. Info can be found here.
