THE DAILY RUNDOWN is a quick look at just a few of the cool screenings and film events happening around the U.S. every day. It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society, and repertory theaters.
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 8, 2017 (All show times are local)
If you ever wanted to watch all the odd numbered films in the SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT franchise in one sitting, the American Cinematheque in Los Angeles is giving you that chance. Starting at 7:30 pm, catch the 1984 original (screening from a 35mm print), followed by SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT 3: BETTER WATCH OUT! (also screening from a 35mm print—seriously), and SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT 5: THE TOY MAKER. Tickets and info can be found here.
The Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline, MA is screening the 1972 Amicus version of TALES FROM THE CRYPT from a 35mm print at midnight. Tickets and info can be found here.
Considered by many to be maybe the best heist film ever made, RIFIFI is showing at the Museum of the Moving Image in Queens at 7:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
The Alamo Drafthouse in Yonkers, NY comes up with a clever way of avoiding the “Is DIE HARD a Christmas movie?” question by showing the also Christmas-time set DIE HARD 2 at 9:30 pm. This is a 35mm screening. Tickets and info can be found here.
