[DAILY RUNDOWN] TODAY’S COOL SCREENINGS!

THE DAILY RUNDOWN is a quick look at just a few of the cool screenings and film events happening around the U.S. every day. It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society, and repertory theaters.

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2018 (All show times are local)

The Museum of Modern Art in New York is screening the Vincent Price favorite THE ABOMINABLE DR. PHIBES from a 35mm print at 1:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

CLASS OF 1984 is screening from a 35mm print at the Parkway Theater in Minneapolis at 8:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

Brian De Palma’s terrific, giallo-influenced DRESSED TO KILL is showing at Quad Cinema in New York at 8:50 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

Doc Films on the University of Chicago campus is showing the divisive (I think it’s brilliant) Australian horror film THE BABADOOK at 10:00 pm. Tickets are $5 at the door. All info can be found here.

Super silly, ultra-violent, and just plain weird as hell prison flick RIKI-OH: THE STORY OF RICKY is showing at the Alamo Drafthouse in Yonkers, NY at 9:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

STRANGER ON THE THIRD FLOOR, an early film noir starring Peter Lorre, is screening from a 35mm print at Trylon Cinema in Minneapolis at 7:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

Ignore the fact that a whole generation of morons took the wrong message from the film and you can still enjoy the hell out of David Fincher’s subversive FIGHT CLUB. It’s screening from a 35mm print at BAMcinématek in Brooklyn at 7:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

If you know of an under-the-radar theater or film society regularly putting together repertory screenings or special events, feel free to let me know on Twitter!
