The first still image has been released from SyFy Films’ upcoming release, ATOMICA, which is a promising-looking sci-fi thriller due this spring. It stars Lost‘s Dominic Monaghan and HEAT‘s Tom Sizemore, with cinematography from Timothy A. Burton, who shot a lesser-known horror movie I liked from 2013 called BENEATH (not the Larry Fessenden one). I like the premise — it reminds me of THE COLONY, another lesser-known horror movie I liked — and SyFy has been doing some cool things lately. For example: The new SyFy series Incorporated (starring HEAT‘s Dennis Haysbert!) is worth your time. Anyway, here’s the synopsis, looks like this is one to keep an eye out for. Could be a sleeper!
In ATOMICA, when communications go offline at a remote nuclear power plant isolated in the desert, a young safety inspector, Abby Dixon, is forced to fly out to bring them back online. Once inside the facility, mysterious clues and strange behavior cause Abby to have doubts about the sanity and, perhaps, identities of the two employees onsite.
ATOMICA is in theaters March 17th, and on VOD and Digital HD on March 21st.
