The Academy Awards are not generally a major concern of ours here at Daily Grindhouse. We like to emphasize the movies we love, above all, without treating movies as competition. We’re really more of a petting zoo than a horse race. That said, this is all the film world is talking about today, so as a service to our readers, below are the winners from the 86th Academy Awards, announced on March 2nd, 2014. We lucked out I think, movie-wise. 2013 was teeming with garbage for the first half of the year, and then we started getting overloaded with good stuff. Obviously my own personal favorites were nearly entirely shut out, but still, you can’t go wrong with most of the big winners.
Keep scrolling down past the awards for a humble tribute to all the wonderful talents we unfortunately lost during a noticeably unsparing year.
